ATHLETIC HONORS/STATS

2-Years Varsity Hockey Team

SCOUTING REPORT:   Matt is a 2019 graduate; he has a 3.67 GPA / 1270 SAT; plays the forward position; and has been on the varsity hockey team the past 2-seasons. Matt is the consummate hockey player who excels in the classroom and on the ice. Matt brings speed and quickness to the ice. He is a terrific skater who is able to change direction within the flow of the game.  Defensemen consistently underestimate his speed and the quickness with which he gets to his top end, resulting in his ability to turn the corner and make the pass to trailers or take his shot. As he draws in the defense, he is a willing play maker.  Matt is a two-way player and is aggressive on the back check as he consistently tracks down the puck and breaks up the offensive flow. Matt is a very physical player and his opponents know when he's on the ice. He plays aggressively in the corners and battles to dig the puck out and covers the ice on penalty kills. Matt is able to put pressure on the puck; create turnovers; and stretch the ice. He has the ability to play the body not the puck. Whether in the neutral zone or on defense he is able to take away time & space. Matt is a disciplined player who doesn't cheat on the pass; he gets his stick in the passing lane; and is able to pick-off passes with back pressure. Matt makes other players around him better.
